AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider (In-Person) - Flagstaff
with Kate Williams, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff

- This class is intended for medical providers and those applying for programs in the medical field (i.e. EMT, CNA, MA, Physicians, RN, Dentists, etc.)
- Note: course will fulfill the enrollment pre-requisite for EMS 131, Emergency Medical Technician and NUR 110, Nursing Assistant I
- This is a medical course for CPR & AED for infant, child, & adult only. No First Aid.
- This course will be completed in person at the CCC Fourth Street Campus.
- The course is approximately 5 hours.
- Additional online work may be required.
- Health and Safety:

DIY - Electrical
with Vance Peterson, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff

This DIY course will cover common electrical maintenance and improvements you can do around the house and how to do it safely. You’ll learn about switches, outlets, lights and more. We’ll cover what essential tools you’ll need to complete the job and how to use them safely, and also knowing when to call a professional. This class will be held at CCC’s Construction Technology Lab on the Fourth Street Campus.

Instructor Vance Peterson is a faculty member in CCC’s Construction Technology Program where he teaches courses on electrical systems, solar home design, blueprint reading, estimating, any many more subjects. Before teaching at CCC he spent 25 years as a residential and commercial general contractor, and 3 years as a Building Inspector and Building Plans Examiner for the City of Flagstaff.
Class meets Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24; 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Writing Your Story
with Barbara Shovers, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff

As an elder, you have gathered many experiences from a life well-lived. Leave a legacy to future generations while you make sense of your own life by writing your story. In this class, you will begin the process by responding to writing prompts which will elicit stories from different chapters of your life: childhood, early adulthood, mid-life, and older adulthood. Beginners as well as seasoned writers are welcome as we share our stories with one another. Please bring a notebook or laptop.
Barbara Shovers, M.A., is a life coach, gerontologist, and writing instructor. She has taught at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Mesa Community College, and Coconino Community College. She co-founded Flagstaff Writers Connection and has organized and given workshops on personal growth through writing. She has been a member of a memoir group for eight years.

DIY - Mountain Bike Repair
with Vance Peterson, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff

Learn to keep your mountain bike in great working condition so you don’t get stuck out on the trail. In this class you’ll learn essential mountain bike repair skills for trail side repairs and what tools you should carry, to make sure you get home safely! Topics will include:
- Bicycle fitting and setup
- Bicycle check-over and diagnosis
- Bicycle lubrication
- Repairing and installing tires and tubes
- Shifting repair and adjustment
- Brake repair and adjustment
- Bicycle upgrades
- Helmet fitting
- Building an essential tool kit
Participants should bring to class:
- Mountain bike
- Helmet
- Bicycle specific multi-tool and tire levers (you can buy them at any bike shop in town. Instead of a multi-tool you may bring a phillips-head screwdriver and a set of metric allen wrenches.)
- Other tools if desired
- No repair parts will be provided

Vance Peterson has been an avid bike rider for over 30 years. While his riding experience includes many disciplines, Vance specializes in technical mountain bike riding. Professionally, he is a former bicycle mechanic, and is a Certified BICP Mountain Bike Skills Instructor. Vance is also a faculty member in CCC’s Construction Technology Program where he teaches courses on electrical systems, solar home design, blueprint reading, estimating, any many more subjects. With his teaching skills, mechanical knowledge, and passion for mountain bikes, this is a class that will give you the skills you need to keep your bike in great condition and ready for your next ride!
This class meets on two days: Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday June 26, 2025. 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
DIY - Plumbing

This DIY course will cover the most common plumbing problems encountered around the house and how to fix them, as well as simple installations of new parts for improvements. You’ll learn about maintenance and repair for dripping faucets, sinks, aerators, common toilet problems and solutions, supply lines, clogs and leaks in drain pipes. We’ll cover what essential tools you’ll need to complete the job and how to use them safely, and also knowing when to call a professional. This class will be held at CCC’s Construction Technology Lab on the Fourth Street Campus.

AHA Heartsaver Total First Aid, CPR & AED (Blended) - Page, AZ

- This class is intended for anyone requiring total First Aid, CPR, and AED training for infant, child, and adult.
- This is an OSHA approved workplace required training.
- For blended courses, students are expected to complete an online course, and after completion, do a skills test in person.
- After you register, an online key access code will be sent to your email address from AHA to complete the online course. You must complete all 32 modules!
- At the end of the online course, you will receive a completion certificate that you will bring with you to the scheduled skills testing.
- The skills testing is scheduled by the instructor via email and will take place at the CCC Page Center.

All AHA courses have a 2 year certification. Students will receive an e-card upon successful completion of course.
