Bring your family and experience the wonder of the night sky at Coconino Community College's Lone Tree campus. Astronomer Chad Davies will be on hand to guide you through viewing planets, star clusters, galaxies, and other deep-sky objects with telescopes. For those who'd like to learn how to navigate the night sky, there will be a session to show you what to look for.

Dr. Chad Davies is a science educator with over 25 years of experience teaching physics and astronomy. He's served as an observatory director and is presently a member of the faculty at Coconino Community College. Over the years, he's facilitated over 100 star parties for students and members of the public community.

  • Registration for each star party is encouraged. If you register we can contact you with any event updates. 
  • This is a weather dependent, outdoor event; no seating is provided.

AHA Heartsaver Total First Aid, CPR & AED (Blended) – Page, AZ

  • This class is intended for anyone requiring total First Aid, CPR, and AED training for infant, child, and adult.
  • This is an OSHA approved workplace required training.
  • For blended courses, students are expected to complete an online course and after completion, do a skills test in person.
    • After you register, an online key access code will be sent to your email address from AHA to complete the online course. You must complete all 32 modules!
    • At the end of the online course, you will receive a completion certificate that you will bring with you to the scheduled skills testing.
    • The skills testing is scheduled by the instructor via email and will take place at the CCC Page Center.
    • *Time listed for course is for the in-person skills testing only

 

All AHA courses have a 2-year certification. Students will receive an e-card upon successful completion of course.

    • Note: course will fulfill the enrollment pre-requisite for EMS 131, Emergency Medical Technician and NUR 110, Nursing Assistant I
  • This is a medical course for CPR & AED for infant, child, & adult only.  No First Aid.
  • For blended courses, students are expected to complete an online course and after completion, do a skills test in person.

Keeping Your Clients Safe (In person) - Page, AZ

Learn what you need to know to keep your clients safe by planning ahead and being prepared. The session will introduce elements of emergency preparedness in the wilderness, or wherever you are with your clients, and what to do until professional help arrives. Guidance for keeping clients safe during extreme weather and the essentials of what to carry with you will also be covered. The CCC Page Center is the American Heart Association training hub for First Aid, CPR, AED and BLS in Northern Arizona.  

Comet Walk - Wildfire Risk Reduction at Your Home

This Comet Walk will focus on fire adapted ponderosa pine forests and how we need to better adapt to the fire-prone forest rather than the forest adapting to us. We'll discuss hazardous fuels reductions around properties, and home hardening techniques. 

Mark Adams will be leading this Comet Walk. He worked as a Hotshot for 24 years on the Coconino National Forest, working on three crews: Blue Ridge, Mormon Lake and Flagstaff Hotshots. He also served as the Superintendent of the Flagstaff Hotshots and the Blue Ridge Hotshots. He now works for the City of Flagstaff in the Flagstaff Fire Department as a Wildland Community Risk Reduction Specialist.

Information and directions for the meeting location will be provided once registration is complete.

EMT Recertification Challenge Exam

The EMT Recertification Challenge EXam is only applicable to current Arizona Certified EMTs.

This class consists of a 150 question cognitive exam and NREMT psychomotor exam. 

This written exam DOES NOT satisfy NREMT recertification requirements however the practical skills exam may be applicable. Contact Dave Manning (928-526-7680) if you have questuons.

For NREMT required CE the four day EMT Refresher would the appropriate course.

AI for Everyone

This course is a fast, easy way for the nontechnical user to get comfortable using free AI tools to increase their business or personal productivity and creativity.

You need a laptop you can bring to class and you need to be comfortable using it. The course will take you from zero knowledge of how to create “prompts”–simple text instructions to an AI service–to an intermediate level of prompt expertise by the end of the course.

You will find that you don't need to be a great writer, designer, or marketer to create a solid business plan or marketing campaign. You don't have to be "artistic" or "super-creative" to make great social media posts or a create a fun, illustrated storybook for your child or grandchild.

Learning to prompt will open a whole new world of self-expression and a greater ability connect with others. You will be able to:

1) Boost your work or school productivity

2) Learn a new language or other skill more quickly

3) Easily explore new frontiers in art, design, and creative writing

The course includes a free ebook with examples, customizable prompting templates, helpful tips, and info on additional AI services and resources.

Class meets Tuesdays & Wednesdays, June 4, 5, 11, 12 from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

 Ariel Strong is a techie who loves to introduce nontechnical folks to all of the fun and creative possibilities that breakthroughs in computing have made possible in recent years. She has worked in the field of software engineering since the early 1990s, and for the last seven years, has been specifically focused on Data Analytics and AI.

Ariel owns two businesses that utilize AI: Flagstaff Design and Marketing, a web services company, and FireFlight, a fire prevention and mitigation company. FireFlight uses advanced drone imaging techniques in combination with AI to provide home and business owners with straightforward, site-specific action plans to protect their health, safety, and property from the threats of wildfire.
