Holiday Beading
with CJ Lucke, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff

Get started with beading to make gifts for yourself and others. In this three-hour workshop we will go over the basics of making a simple wire loop and a wire wrapped loop. Create items that will be perfect for the gift-giving season! You will make three pairs of headpin earrings to take home. All supplies and tools will be provided.
CJ Lucke has been beading for over 20 years. She has sold jewelry on Etsy and currently has a studio in her home. She has studied silversmithing at Coconino Community College but prefers the simplicity of small projects that can be completed in a few hours.
Although not required, you may wish to purchase your own tools for the workshop. There are three important tools you should have: wire-cutter pliers, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers - make sure there are no ridges on the jaws. You can find these beading pliers either at a local crafts store or online. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
Comet Talk: Small Homes in the Archaeological Record
with Dudley Gardner, Coconino Community College - Page

Join us in-person at CCC's Page Center, or online via Zoom!
Dudley Gardner will discuss small homes in the upper Colorado River Basin, and what the archaeological record teaches us about building and living in small spaces between 1,000 and 1920. We will discuss the uniqueness of the small homes people built and lived in, with the focus on materials used in construction and how space was organized and utilized.
Dr. Gardner received his PhD from the University of New Mexico and has since published multiple reports and articles on the Native Americans in the Upper Colorado River Basin. He has worked in archaeology in this region for 45 years. His research interests include prehistoric sites and historical archeological sites and he has worked and published in both areas. Gardner was born in Colorado; after graduating high school he served two tours of duty in Vietnam then went back east to study at Lee University where he earned his BA. He has worked at Colorado State University, Western Wyoming Community College and Coconino Community College.
