AI for Everyone
with Ariel Strong, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff
Learn to Use AI Tools for Productivity and Creativity (Beginner-Friendly)
This hands-on course helps nontechnical learners become comfortable using free AI tools to boost productivity, creativity, and confidence at work, in school, or at home. You’ll start from zero and learn how to write effective AI “prompts” (simple instructions you type into an AI tool). By the end of the course, you’ll be using prompts at an intermediate level to generate ideas, draft content, organize projects, and explore creative possibilities. The final 30 minutes of each class are open Q&A and collaborative practice.
You don’t need to be a strong writer, designer, or marketer to get real results. You also don’t need to think of yourself as “artistic” to create eye-catching social media posts, or even a fun illustrated storybook for a child or grandchild.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Improve productivity for work, freelancing, or school
- Learn faster using AI as a practice and coaching partner for languages and other skills
- Explore new frontiers in writing, design, and creative projects with confidence.
- Refresh your knowldege with the free ebook we use in class using examples, customizable prompting templates, helpful tips, and additional resources.
What to bring: A laptop (or tablet) that can access the internet. You should be comfortable with basic computer skills like typing, writing emails, web browsing.
Instructor: Ariel Strong has worked in software development since the early 1990s. She hosts the Northern Arizona AI Meetup and founded FireFlight, a local business applying AI to problems related to community resilience, sustainability, and safety.
Class meets on four Tuesdays from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., July 7, 14, 21, 28.
AHA Heartsaver Total First Aid, CPR & AED (Blended) - Page, AZ

- This class is intended for anyone requiring total First Aid, CPR, and AED training for infant, child, and adult.
- This is an OSHA approved workplace required training.
- For blended courses, students are expected to complete an online course, and after completion, do a skills test in person.
- After you register, an online key access code will be sent to your email address from AHA to complete the online course. You must complete all 32 modules!
- At the end of the online course, you will receive a completion certificate that you will bring with you to the scheduled skills testing.
- The skills testing is scheduled by the instructor via email and will take place at the CCC Page Center.

All AHA courses have a 2 year certification. Students will receive an e-card upon successful completion of course.

Intermediate Crochet
with Shelly Christiano, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff
Take your crochet skills to the next level! This class is perfect for those who are comfortable with the basics of crochet and are ready to learn more advanced techniques. Whether you’re looking to master intricate stitch patterns, create more complex shapes, or explore new yarns and fibers, this class will help you expand your crochet toolbox. This is a great opportunity to have a set time each week to crochet, to talk to other crocheters and get inspiration, and to get help on current projects that you are working on.
Prerequisites: This class is designed for students who are already familiar with basic crochet stitches (chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet) and are comfortable reading basic patterns. If you are interested in a beginner class please send us an email (ccc2community@coconino.edu) and we will let you know when a class is available.
Personalized Projects: Each student will choose an individualized project that aligns with their interests and skill level, with guidance and support from the instructor. Whether it’s a cozy sweater, an intricate shawl, or a decorative home accessory, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a project of your choice and bring your vision to life!
Materials: Please note that materials are not included in the class fee. Students are encouraged to bring their own yarn and hooks, but the instructor will provide recommendations based on your selected project.

Meet Shelly Christiano, our talented crochet instructor! With years of crocheting experience, Shelly has transformed her passion for yarn and creativity into an impressive skill set. She specializes in creating various beautiful and practical items, from children's animal hats and crochet flowers to stylish market bags.
Her love for crochet began as a hobby but quickly grew into a thriving business during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. She successfully sells her handmade creations at craft shows and through her online store, delighting customers with her unique and high-quality products. See her work at HatsNThingsByShelly.com
Shelly enjoys sharing her knowledge and helping beginners discover the joy of crafting handmade items. She believes that crochet is not only a creative outlet but also a wonderful way to relax and unwind.
The class meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on four Thursdays: July 9, 16, 23, 30.
Digital Photography
with Olivia Stull, Coconino Community College - Flagstaff
This hands-on introductory photography class teaches participants how to take control of their cameras using manual settings. Students will learn how aperture (f-stop), shutter speed, and ISO work together to control exposure and image quality.
Rather than relying on automatic settings, participants will learn how to adjust their camera to match lighting conditions, subject movement, and creative goals such as background blur or sharp detail.
The class includes guided outdoor practice where participants will experiment with different camera settings and observe the results in real time. This course is ideal for beginners who want to move beyond auto mode and better understand how their camera works.
Participants must bring a digital camera with manual controls, such as a DSLR, mirrorless, or advanced compact camera. Smartphones and basic point-and-shoot cameras without manual controls are not suitable for this course. Additionally, participants should bring a fully charged battery and memory card.
Class meets on four Thursdays: July 9, 16, 23, 30, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Instructor: Before earning her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Olivia A. Stull operated a photography studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she both worked as a professional photographer, as well as taught introductory digital photography courses. She has years of experience helping people learn to use their cameras with confidence and understand the technical foundations of photography.
Olivia has experience with a wide range of photographic formats, including large-format film, 35mm film, and digital systems, and has explored both traditional and experimental approaches, such as Lomography. Photography has been a lifelong passion and creative practice alongside her work in psychology and education.
Her teaching focuses on making manual camera settings understandable and practical so that participants can move beyond automatic mode and begin taking intentional photographs.
City Design and Modeling (Grades 6/7)

In this course students design their very own cities! They will explore city layouts and design sustainable cities. Students will assume the role of Civil Engineers, working in groups to explore city challenges and model their own sustainable cities.

Ink and Imagination is an exciting writing workshop designed to spark creativity and nurture budding writers. Through a series of engaging exercises, campers will dive deep into the art of character creation and world-building, discovering how to craft unforgettable characters and immersive settings. Campers will explore the power of storytelling and how we can use our passion and skills to pursue careers in writing.
Intro to Metalsmithing - July

Ready to dive into the world of metalsmithing? In this hands-on, three-day workshop, you’ll learn the essential skills needed to start your metalsmithing journey. Working with sterling silver and copper, you’ll create your own handcrafted rings and a copper cuff bracelet while learning techniques like soldering, filing, sanding, stamping, forming, texturing, polishing, and more.
No experience? No problem! This beginner-friendly class is designed to introduce you to the tools and techniques of metalsmithing in a fun and supportive environment. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry and the confidence to keep creating!

Instructor Skyler Dunfey is a metalsmith and jewelry artist with over a decade of experience in the craft. She first discovered metalsmithing in high school and has been honing her skills ever since, selling her work through SkyJune Designs and teaching jewelry-making classes to share her passion. Skyler specializes in traditional fabrication techniques, from soldering and stone setting to texturing and forming metal by hand. Her work is inspired by organic textures, natural landscapes, and a love of adventure. As an instructor with over 10 years of teaching experience, Skyler creates a welcoming and hands-on learning environment, helping students develop confidence and creativity at the bench.
